Are you fed up of being asked over and over again when the sand and water table can come out of storage? It's such a pity if your toddler can not play outdoors using their sand and water table, particularly when they have a whole lot of fun and also enjoy creative and imaginative play. Everybody wants to make sure our little ones are happy and it's so gratifying for us to witness them having a good time and experiencing new things in the process. So, why not bring your children's sand and water table indoors?
When you try these ideas and strategies, your young child can make use of their sand and water table. So, not only will they get to play with one of their favourite toys even in winter, but also will discover through play and, on top of that, keep warm by being inside:
Kidkraft Storage
1. Sand and water tables do not just have to be used with sand and water. You'll be able to put rice, pasta, dried beans or peas in there too. Many children want to use kitchen utensils, for example ladles, cups, spoons, measuring jugs and any other thing you can find, to measure and pour the rice or pasta.
Maybe your children will love role-play and will be delighted with the possibility to 'cook' you a meal, in particular when it is pasta or a thing which you generally serve at mealtimes. This role reversal, of having your little one cook your meal is often great fun for the two of you.
Not simply will these different options let your child to try out different textures, they will have the chance to use their imagination. Maybe they will delight in covering up their dinosaurs or farm animals and rooting in the rice to locate them. Perhaps you might like to try hiding sultanas or dried fruit, covered with tin foil, and allow your child hunt for edible 'treasure'. Depending upon the age of your son or daughter, you may want to introduce extra rules, making it more complicated to discover the treasure, as in they're able to only use a spoon, or need to be blindfolded and can only feel the way to the treasure.
If you're able to pull your child away by the end of the play session, do not be worried about wasting the rice or pasta - simply keep it for the next day, as this is something your son or daughter is bound to want to do time and time again.
Instead, when you have finished with the beans, rice, or pasta, you could use it for arts and crafts. As an example, your little one can thread the dried pasta to produce a necklace or another item of jewellery. It could be utilized to make a collage, or painted and used to help with counting and number games. Whether deciding to continue using the pasta, or to make something else entirely when you are finished, it won't be wasted because you would have an additional activity for an additional day.
2. If you've a waterproof surface or plastic sheet which can be used to safeguard the floor, your child can still have fun with water play indoors. For a treat, you can add a bit of bubble bath to the water so your child can play with the bubbles.
Ladles and cups make great toys to scoop the bubbles and produce 'bubble mountains'. You may also add your child's usual water toys when they're playing with water indoors, so that they can enjoy all of the fun they would normally associate with outdoor water play.
3. If you do not mind a little bit of mess, this will likely delight your child. For those who have not got a tiled floor, or some other waterproof surface, you might like to use a protective sheet, but your child's fun will certainly make your effort worthwhile!
Cook some jelly, using the normal packets of jelly which you can buy from the supermarket. Based upon the size of your sand and water table, you may need to use a couple of packets, or perhaps even make a number of different colours and put one colour in the 'sand' compartment along with the other inside the 'water' compartment.
When your jelly has set, mix it with a fork or spoon to separate the mixture just a bit and pour it in the sand and water table. Cover plastic dinosaurs or farm animals and your child is going to have their personal 'jelly swamp' to them entertained for a long time. You could save a bit of jelly for your kids to enjoy later. The texture of jelly and 'messy factor' makes this a proper treat for toddlers and older children!
